The blog for City on its Knees exists as the connecting point for people who have a heart to pray for the metro-Birmingham area in Alabama. We hope our posts will inform you of specific needs to pray about; equip you with creative ways to pray; keep you up-to-date on prayer events throughout the city; and give our readers a chance to share their burdens and heart to pray for our city in the comments section.

Currently, there are three contributors to this blog:

Kevin Moore – Executive Director for Mission Birmingham; worship pastor and elder at Shades Mountain Independent Church

Jennifer Weed – Prayer team leader for Mission Birmingham; wife of a Birmingham police officer; homemaker; mother; teacher. You can read her personal blog at www.ofheavenandearth.wordpress.com

Ginny Hart- Reading specialist/reading coach at Gwin Elementary School in Hoover. She has taught for 25 years. She’s a mom and grandmother with 5 children and 7 grandchildren. Ginny does most of the historical and background research for the cities for which we pray.

We love feedback. We encourage our readers to leave a comment. It can be a question, an idea, a passage of Scripture, or even a prayer from your heart in response to the post. We do moderate first-time comments, but once you’ve been approved, you won’t have to be moderated again. Our one request is that when posting comments, keep Phillippians 4:8 in mind: whatever is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and of good report. We reserve the right to remove comments that do not line up with Phil. 4:8.

To sum up, the creators and contributors for City on its Knees love the city of Birmingham, and we desire to seek God through prayer to see Birmingham transformed through the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We hope you will join us.
