Greetings and welcome to City on its Knees! We have a heart for prayer and to see the metro-Birmingham area transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our purpose here is to create an ongoing prayer conversation for our cities, and to build relationships with and among those who share the heart for prayer for our area. Along the way, we want to help inform and equip you through our posts, which will include specific ways to pray for the city/cities; insights from Scripture; and opportunities to get physically involved through local prayer gatherings and meetings.
In order to accomplish this purpose, we need you to join in prayer with us by posting your prayers in the comments. We especially appreciate when you respond with your own typed-out prayer in relation to the post, but we also welcome your questions, ideas, or Bible verses. Our only request is that we all keep Philippians 4:8 in mind when we post or comment: “Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think on these things.”
At the moment, we have 1 main blogger, and 2 regularly contributing bloggers:
Carol Wilkins – wife to local businessman; homeschool mom; church media operator.
To find out more, please visit our “About” page. We also hope to have guest contributors from time to time.
The metro-Birmingham area consists of 7 counties and about 92 municipalities. Starting with our next post, we’ll be taking a look at those cities, praying specifically for each one. Again, we welcome you to comment with your own prayers, or a verse of Scripture the Lord brings to mind, or to just drop us a line to say hi.
So again, welcome! We are excited about how the Lord would use this blog and website to help accomplish His purposes in the metro-Birmingham area – to advance His Kingdom in Birmingham. May He alone receive all the honor and the glory for it!
